Quarter notes: Second
In a nutshell: Seahawks 16, Raiders 3. Steven Hauschka extended the Seahawks’ lead to 13-3 with a 22-yard field that capped a 17-play, 77 yards drive that consumed 7:51. Tarvaris Jackson scrambled for a first down on fourth-and-1, ran for 9 yards on third-and-4 and also was 5 of 7 for 59 yards. Hauschka then made it 16-3 with a 51-yard field goal with 3:59 left in the half.
Player of the quarter: Jackson, the Seahawks starter in 2011 who spent last season in Buffalo after being traded to the Bills. He ran. He passed. He looked very much like a QB who could not only step in if needed, but move the offense.
Play of the quarter: On the first play after the Seahawks scored, cornerback Walter Thurmond got the ball back when he intercepted Terrelle Pryor’s deep pass at the Seattle 28-yard line. Thurmond, who had a 29-yard punt return in the first quarter, locked on to the ball long before the intended receiver.
Number of the quarter: 4. It’s Hauschka’s uniform number, and he hit field goals of 56, 51 and 22 yards in the first half. But it’s also the number of times the Seahawks scored in their first four possessions of the half.
